I have many vivid memories of my grandparents and one I will
never forget is their love for each other and their family.
Grandma and Grandpa were married on December 18th, 1943 and
together raised 7 children.
Motorcycles
were Grandpa's life, riding... in this blood. He began early,
riding his motorcycle to high school. It became his career.
Grandpa started out at Gollan of Youngstown (the Harley-Davidson
of Youngstown). In later years he was the shop manager at Warren
H.D, where he remained for 23 years until his illness in 1991.He
became a friend and mentor to many and was always willing to
lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Grandpa passed away July
15th, 1991 after a brief battle with cancer.
For the
past 14 years the family and friends of Fred Perry have come
together to honor him. And in his name we hold the Annual Fred
Perry Run for Kids. Why kids? Grandpa was once quoted, "I
have been fortunate enough to have 7 healthy children, I would
like to give back to those less fortunate." So the legend
lives on.
The family
and friends of Fred & Dot Perry continue to raise money
for children, this August will mark 15 years. Through us, their
memory lives on.
